  The Plunger

Last June 6, 2005, I and Thomas went to Gallup, New Mexico after working the Red Earth Pow Wow in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  I always look for hotel deals, so I clipped a coupon for Microtel in Gallup.  The hotel was new and impressive from the outside.  Inside, I asked for hotel room using the coupon but the lady (from India) didn't honor it.  She said, it would be $78.00 +- for one night instead of what the coupon state like $39.+- for 1 or 2 people for one night.

I decided to use Motel 6.  Staying at Motel 6 was fine. Then,  I and Thomas went  shopping.  In the evening Of June 7, 2005, we decided to return to Motel 6 in Gallup, New Mexico.

I was tired, we were happy to relax for the evening when pandemonium broke loose.

After I flushed the toilet (just did #1) water suddenly oozed from the water closet onto the floor and the carpet.  The toilet was flooded.

I rushed to the front desk to tell them what happened.  There was only one guy at the front desk.  He was inside a locked room and there's only a window to talk to him.  He said he cannot give us a new room because we already used the room we're staying.

He went out and handed me a plunger.  I didn't get mad because I was shocked in disbelief.  He said he was the only one on the front desk and the PLUNGER was the only help he could give.  I went back to the room and told Tom with the plunger in my hand.  Tom rolled up his pajamas and used the plunger.  To our relief the water went down in the water closet but the toilet was still flooded.  Tom asked me to go back and ask for a mop.

I remembered that when I checked in Motel 6, they  included a form to rate the stay at the hotel.  I called on my cell and press the lowest assessment of the hotel and noted that I'll never go back to Motel 6.

When I was outside, the guy (only one working at Motel 6) showed up with a bucket and a mop.  He cleaned the toilet.  There were feces and stuff obviously from the previous guests.  He threw 10 towels on the floor.

We didn't get to sleep till midnight.  Then, some guests came and noisily occupied the room next to us.  For $46.64, I'd rather sleep in the car.

The following night, we decided to camp at the Red Rock Park.  We paid $15.00 to sleep in a very quiet environment.  The restrooms were clean and we didn't have to do plumbing.

Our stay at Motel 6 in Gallup, New Mexico was a nightmare and a disaster.  Last July 3,2005, when we were in Berea, Ohio, there was Motel 6 advertising for $51.99 a night for one person.  Thomas said that maybe, the incident in Gallup was just a one time incident but I decided to use Red Roof Inn.

Wow!  The hotel was new and refurbished.  The bed spreads were new not like the tired, worn out bedspread of most hotels which might contain millions of human dna's.  I was so satisfied till I found a bloody pillow.

I think I will save for an RV.
